Manitoba Housing Application – Social Housing Rental Programs: Manitoba Housing offers the Social Housing Rental Program (SHRP). This is the primary and largest program offered by Manitoba Housing. SHRP provides subsidized housing to low-income people who need it most. Also, it offers a range of quality housing such as apartments, townhouses, duplexes, and houses for individuals, families, and seniors.

Manitoba offers a social housing rental program that includes the following benefits:.
- To provide adequate, affordable, and suitable housing for low-income families.
- A subsidy is the difference between the market rent for the unit and the rent paid by the tenant. The rent a tenant pays is based on an RGI percentage of total gross household income.
- Rent is based on a percentage of income not exceeding the benchmark set by CMHC.
- Supports achieving a successful tenancy and transitioning to alternative housing options when appropriate.
Eligibility requirements for Manitoba Housing
Who qualifies for Manitoba housing? To qualify for the Manitoba Social Housing Rental Programs application, you must fulfill the eligibility criteria.
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of Canada.
- a refugee claimant or have legal status to live and work in Canada.
- Have a gross adjusted household income at or below the Social Housing Rental Program income limits established by Manitoba Housing.
