The Florida Legislature and Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis’s leadership and Governor DeSantis have allowed Florida homeowners to continue funding the My Safe Florida Home program for another year of service.
My Safe Florida Home is a popular grant program that can help Florida residents cut property insurance costs by funding hurricane-related upgrades with grants of up to $10,000.
- First-time applicants must apply for and receive a home inspection before applying for the grant Program.
- Existing participants can check their grant group category number in their portal account.
However, This program provides free home hurricane inspections and grants money to help Florida citizens strengthen their homes.
Using these funds, homeowners can strengthen roof-to-wall connections,
improve roof deck attachments,
and strengthen roof coverings.
In addition, they can also upgrade their exterior doors, garage doors, and windows.
To get the $10000 home assistance, you must qualify for My Safe FL Home Grant Program.
My Safe Florida Home Qualifications
Homeowners who have obtained a wind mitigation inspection can apply for a grant Application if they meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be a resident of Florida.
- They must provide proof of the homestead exemption.
- The home must be insured for $500,000. However, HB 811 increases this to $700,000 effective July 1.
- The home’s building permit must be issued before January 1, 2008.
- The homeowner must allow the home to be re-inspected after work is completed.

- Apply for a Grant
Apply for an inspection:
Homeowners must apply and receive their free wind mitigation inspection. When that inspection is complete and you receive your inspection report, you can apply for a grant. follow the steps below.
Apply for a Grant Application:
- First-time applicants must create a portal account at https://mysafeflhome.com.
- Visit the MySafeFloridaHome website.
- Click on the “Apply now” button.
- Click on Register and enter your email address and password.
- After that, login to your Portal Account using login credentials.
- Then, fill out the required information in the grant application form and Submit it.
Don’t delay because there are just a limited number of free inspections this fiscal year.
My Safe Florida Home Application Status
Applicants can check the My Safe Florida Home Application Status online, by phone number, and by email.
Online: Go to the official website of my safe florida home, login your portal account using Email and password and check your Application Status. So, you can check whether your application is approved or pending.
