Daytona Beach Housing Authority (DBHA) offers the Section 8 housing program to eligible low-income families or individuals. it is also known as the DBHA Housing Choice Voucher Program.
Federal tenant-based rental assistance is provided through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, Section 8. The DBHA HCV program is implemented by local and state public housing agencies.
Housing voucher holders receive subsidies through a HUD Section 8 housing program that they can use in any privately owned rental unit that meets program guidelines and whose owner is willing to participate in the program. However, assistance moves with the household rather than being attached to a particular unit, making tenant-based rental assistance a particularly effective tool for increasing low-income families’ access to low-poverty, resource-rich neighborhoods.
